Nasser Fellowship announces final result

Under the patronage of the President of Egypt, the Ministry of Youth and Sports concludes personal interviews and announces the final results for applicants for the Nasser Fellowship for international Leadership.

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports held a series of personal interviews for two days from May 11th to May 13th at the ministry’s headquarters, as well as online interviews to facilitate applicants from the border provinces and regions for the Nasser Fellowship. This is in preparation for announcing the final acceptance results for the fourth edition of the Nasser Fellowship, which is scheduled to be held from May 30th to June 17th, 2023, under the slogan "Youth of Non-Alignment and South-South Cooperation" and under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

According to the Ministry's statement, the percentage of Egyptian applicants for the fellowship reached about 28.9% of the total number of applicants, and the accepted Egyptian delegates to participate in the fourth edition of the fellowship reached about 6% of the total number of participants in the fellowship, which is the largest number as Egypt is the host country, as the fellowship targets about 150 young leaders from around 82 countries around the world.

Also the statement confirmed that the percentage of females reached about 45%, while males reached about 55% of the total targeted number of participants in the fellowship, including 4.7% of people with disabilities, which is the highest participation rate for people with disabilities in the Nasser Fellowship this year compared to previous years.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports also confirmed that the process of reviewing applications and evaluating applicants for the fellowship went through four stages of acceptance selection. The committee made several estimates (pass, good, very good, excellent), while a weak estimate was given to those who did not exceed 50% of the evaluation rate outside the qualifying stage according to the percentages set by the committee as an indicator for measurement specified for each stage. The first stage was classified as “pass” for the percentage that falls between 50% to 65%, while the "good" estimate expressed the second stage for the percentage that falls between 66% to 75%, and the third stage "very good" was between 76% and 85%. Finally, the fourth and last stage went to those whose application rates ranged from 86% or more with a general rating of “excellent”, and they were the ones who had the interviews.

The Ministry's statement also clarified that the evaluation and selection stages that the applications went through were according to the criteria previously announced by the fellowship, several basic principles were observed, the most important of which are gender equality, geographical representation, especially from the border governorates, and taking into account the participants with disabilities. In addition to necessity that the applicant to be a "productive member" capable of making a real change in his community.

Earlier, the Ministry of Youth and Sports had launched the application form for the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership from March 12th to April 7th, 2023, during which about 1185 young men and women from 93 countries around the world applied, representing different continents of Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and North America, with Africa having the highest number of applicants.
