President Gamal Abdel Nasser's leader style impact on me

By Hon Edward M Ndalama

The history and story of President Nasser has a great positive impact on me, the vision he had for Egypt, Africa and the entire world to foster an equal and better world for all human beings on the planet is so profound.

The vision of turning the residual water that were causing flooding from the Nile river to turn it into artificial lake Nasser and the building of the high Aswan dam and hydro power station.

The floods that were destroying archeological sites into canals to support agriculture and for tourism is such a great vision, the power generation of more than 2000 mega watts to power the entire Egypt was significant.

President Nasser's humble background made him close to human heart and provided a very strong spirit to fight for equal rights and helped many African nations to gain independence by providing financial and material support as well as trainings.

For Zambia, the first UNIP office was in Cairo, Egypt which was made possible by Nasser. UNIP was the first Zambian political party and produced the first Zambian President by the name of Kenneth Kaunda.

For me as Edward Mwaba Ndalama from Zambia, I am so grateful to associate my name with such a global icon through the Nasser Youth Movement community.

I was picked for the first Nasser Fellowship Training and the 3rd batch for the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership.

Really, I do have great memories and lessons for each lesson and exposure fired my imagination, the visit to the Cairo Police Academy was an opener on how we can maintain order in our cities and different countries.

The New Suez Canal visit and the tunnels that lead to Sanai peninsula and the economical importance to Egypt and the world, showed me that the vision of Gamal Abdel Nasser lives on through President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
