Mohamed Abdillahi Farmajo..Former Prime Minister and 9th President of Somalia

Written by: Mohamed Abdisalan “Indho”

Laboratory scientist and youth activist.

He has characteristics that other politicians do not have;  protection of public property, anti-corruption and fighting tribalism. As a result, he has become the most popular politician in Somalia so far.

On March 23, he handed the power over to the newly elected president. After moving out of the presidential palace, he rented  out a house, an idea which his supporters considered an insult to their president, and launched a campaign to raise money  to build house for him. The campaign was dubbed "thank you president". When news reached President Farmajo, he wholeheartedly accepted the suggestion of his supporters.

The campaign was started by a large number of people living outside the country mainly in North America (US & Canada) and Europe, who paid the highest amount of donations. during the campaign, I can mention three things that attracted me more than any other things & they are:-

1)Carro salah, a young girl at the age of 8, said "I’m one of the supporters of President Farmajo. I am sorry that he was defeated in the election. I have $2 and I donated to the campaign. NABAD iyo NOLOL will win the next election” she added.

2) john kanon from Sierra Leone “ i had good news about your former president farmaajo, I’m so happy that he never had a private house in somalia, this is very good example for all african leaders. a president who stayed in power for five years & who still could not afford a private residence is a rare incident in Africa. It means that he did not misuse the powers of the government & he is an example for all of us. Just hearing this news makes me happy beyond expression. In my country Sierra Leone, leaders are corrupt, they use the public revenue for their own personal benefit. Unfortunately, a politician in my country, if he had stayed in power for 5 years, would be a millionaire by the end of his term, if he decides to leave office. Farmajo is an icon, a role model for all other african leaders & i will contribute to the campaign of building the house for him”.

3) a Nomadic father "This is my camel. I brought it to the market to sell and take part in the campaign for the construction of President Farmajo's house, Farmaajo is trustworthy, anti-corruption,  and anti-foreign intervention, That's why he deserves."

My message for this campaign is:- The book written by former US President Barack Obama "A Promised Land" when he walked on the streets it was said “you could not do it, you could not reach that position” he would answer yes i can, so he named it the third part "YES, WE CAN".

"I believe the power of the Somali people. I am confident in their unity that will make this campaign successful. This campaign will be a campaign that will allure a lot of people around the world, Victory is coming."
