The Ministry of Youth and Sports (African Youth Office, Parliament Central Administration and Civic Education) announces statistics regarding applicants for Nasser Fellowship for African Leadership - launched by the Ministry - during the period (from 8 to 22 June 2019).

The ministry confirmed that the fellowship witnessed a strong demand from the youth of the African continent during the days of registration in the electronic form; the number of applicants reached about (1000) young leaders representing (51) African countries, and the average age of applicants for the grant is (28) years; among them are (782) young female leaders (from 21 to 35 years old), and there are (16) young female leaders under the age of (21) years, and (53) young males over the age of (35) years, who were selected – and very carefully - the most efficient (100) young leaders among the applicants from various African countries.

Nasser Fellowship for African Leadership aims to transfer the ancient Egyptian experience in building national institutions, and to create a new generation of young African transformational leaders with a vision in line with the directions of Egypt's presidency of the African Union, and who believe in serving the goals of African unity through integration; In addition to creating a consortium of the continent's most influential young African leaders with training, skills and strategic visions.

The fellowship has generated great popularity at the level of local and international media, both official and unofficial, in Arabic and foreign languages. About (90) local news outlets covered the news of the grant, whether in Arabic or in foreign languages, and 22 international bodies published the news regarding the fellowship, and many Egyptian institutions published news regarding the fellowship through their accounts on Facebook via (the official page of the Ministry of The Egyptian Foreign Ministry - The Egyptian Embassy in Ethiopia and the African Union - The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Serbia - Egypt's Presidency of the African Union).

Nasser's Fellowship was praised by many officials. The Egyptian ambassador to Ethiopia, Osama Abdel-Khaleq, praised the fellowship; as one of the mechanisms of support and rehabilitation of African youth. This was in the context of his reception of the General Coordinator of the African Youth Office, Hassan Ghazali on the sidelines of the African Youth Forum - held from 24 to 26 April 2019 - under the auspices of the African Union in Addis Ababa.

During Ghazali’s meeting with the Chairperson of the Commission for Science, Technology and Human Resources of the African Union Professor, Sarah Ajbour, in Addis Ababa, she commended Nasser Fellowship for Leadership as a platform serving the 1million By 2021 initiative, which was launched to empower and develop young people in Africa from Through the qualification of one million African youth in the fields of education, employment, entrepreneurship and participation (4 E's) by 2021. This is what Nasser Fellowship aims at in the education sector, and it welcomed its goals that meet those of the Africa Agenda 2063.
